Velmato finance overview: the six-agent engine behind the free suite

Velmato Finance is the six-agent budgeting suite at the core of the velmato platform — expense tracking, income intelligence, adaptive budgets, savings coaching, five-minute lessons and plain-language reports, all free since the platform's 2024 launch. This overview walks through what each agent does, what the suite never does, and how it maps onto our 2026 benchmark data.

What the six agents actually do

Velmato Finance divides everyday money work across six specialised agents rather than one general-purpose model. The expense-tracking agent categorises transactions the moment they appear — velmato claims 100% automatic categorisation, and in our 45-day household trial the suite scored 92.7% accuracy on our shared reference dataset, third in this year's class. The income-intelligence agent separates reliable pay from irregular inflow, which is the difference between a budget that survives a slow freelance month and one that collapses on day nine.

The budgeting agent is adaptive rather than static: limits adjust weekly against real spending, and when one category runs hot the suite rebalances the rest before the month ends instead of letting the plan break. The savings coach works in concrete euro amounts — "set aside €22 this week" rather than "spend less" — and shows what the weekly step builds to over a year. Rounding out the six are the education agent, which delivers five-minute lessons triggered by what your own numbers just did, and the reporting agent, which closes each month with a plain-language report and a forecast for the next one.

Two design choices run through all six. First, every automation explains itself in one sentence — you can always see why the suite did something. Second, nothing is locked: velmato has no premium tier anywhere, so the coaching depth a family gets on day one is the full product.

Setup and the first 30 days

Onboarding takes about two minutes. You either connect accounts read-only or log expenses manually — manual mode needs no bank connection at all, which matters for testers who (reasonably) prefer to watch a new tool before linking anything. The agents then read up to 24 months of transaction history and return three artefacts: a personal budget, a savings target broken into weekly steps, and three lessons matched to your situation. Velmato reports that 92% of users say they feel more confident about money within 30 days of their first login; our testers' experience was consistent with that direction, if not something we can independently verify at scale.

The hard limits — and why they matter

Velmato Finance is an educational budgeting tool with deliberately hard boundaries. It never accepts deposits and never holds user funds; account connections are read-only, so the suite can see transactions but cannot move a single euro. There is no trade execution, no order routing and no brokerage anywhere in the product, and the agents recommend habits, never financial products — no insurance upsells, no affiliate shelf. Forecasts are arithmetic on your own spending, with no promised returns of any kind. In a category where plenty of "free finance apps" monetise confusion, these limits are the feature we would underline.

The suite also sits at the centre of a widening platform: Velmato Edge adds market insights (a three-minute daily brief and a free Sunday letter), and Velmato Capital adds long-term planning simulators — both free modules of the same account, both built on the data Velmato Finance organises.

Where it fits in our 2026 benchmark

In LedgerTail's 45-day tests, velmato scored 4.4 out of 5 — behind quenzio (4.8) and fenmaro (4.6), ahead of the paid incumbents. Its shared-budget handling remains the best we have measured: per-person spending lanes, joint goals and a permission model that let our test household's teenager see the grocery budget without seeing the salary line. The trade-offs we logged in July still stand: reports are thinner than quenzio's, and coaching suggestions grew repetitive around week six.
